The Fault in Our Stars overshadows Divergent in terms of box office success.

The Fault in Our Stars and Divergent are two movies both featuring Shailene Woodley as principle character and both oriented for young audience. As recent box office results showed low-budget drama beats blockbuster action in box office record while still having releases to come in such principle movie market territories as Russia, France and Italy.

Shailene Woodley is 22-years-old rising star from California on her was to eclipse Kristen Stewart and Jennifer Lawrence. Her first success was performing for Descendants movie by academy award winning director Alexander Payne. In this film she appeared alongside with George Clooney. She then recieved lead part in Divergent trilogy adoptation. Divergent turned to be rare success in long row of youth fantasy projects trying to repeat financial success of Twilight and Hunger Games. Movie collected $263m. But next film with Woodley shows even greater performance having current mark at $271m worldwide. And this includes $124m collected in US market. And it is not saying that current IMDB mark is definetely better for The Fault in Our Stars, 8.3 vs 7.0. And even more - movie still has unopened markets like Russia where movie starts in sepetember together with France and Italy. In France premiere will happen tomorrow at 20th of august, in Italy it will happen in september 4th like in Russia. It is important to note that Russia is at least one of three most principle territories for american movies abroad. Russia alone gave to fianl part of Twilight saga $42m of box office money.
Director of the Fault in  Our Stars is Josh Boone who previously made film called Stuck in Love. Despite fact that Stuck in Love is drama of certain quality and film featuring ansemble of start like Lily Collins, Jennifer Connelly and Logan Lerman it failed in Box office. Now it is time to collect better harvest for young director.
This unusual happening when drana overcomes action in the battle for same sector of audience is probalbly may become sign for promoters and producers that young audience of that kind (mostly girls) prefer stories with evedint love story. In Twilight everything was build around love story of Edward Cullen and Bella Swan and Fault in Our Stars is love story drama when Divergent is more occupied with dealing with repressive society. Maybe that will mean we will have more love stories in future.
